Visual PDF placement
Place PDF redactions, highlights, notes, and visible signatures precisely
Image PDF Tools renders a bounded preview of the selected PDF in your browser. Draw or click on that real page, switch pages when needed, and keep the numeric controls as an exact fallback. Placement is stored as proportions of the page, so changing the preview size or working with mixed page dimensions does not shift the intended location.
Workflow
Choose the page and check its orientation
Load one PDF and confirm each page in the local preview. The redaction editor supports the displayed orientation of rotated pages. Annotation and visible-signature tools still require normalizing intrinsic rotation or using their numeric controls when drawing is disabled.
Place the intended mark
Drag a rectangle for redaction or annotation, or click where the lower-left of a visible signature should be placed. The preview converts pointer positions to normalized page coordinates, so zoom, responsive layout, and different physical page sizes do not alter the saved relative position.
Process a copy and inspect the download
Review every placement row, run the operation on a duplicate, download once, and reopen the actual output in another PDF reader. Check the first, last, rotated, and unusually sized pages rather than trusting the browser preview alone.
Limits to understand
Redaction rasterizes every output page and is intentionally irreversible; original selectable text, links, forms, annotations, attachments and accessibility structure are omitted throughout. Vector detail and interactive content are lost. Annotations are visible page drawings, not editable PDF annotation objects. A drawn or uploaded signature is only a visible mark, not a certificate-backed digital signature, identity check, timestamp, or integrity proof.
Privacy mode
The source, page render, placement coordinates, signature material, and generated result stay in the current browser for these supported workflows. Normal page and code requests still use the network, and downloaded copies, extensions, synchronized folders, or later sharing remain outside that local-processing boundary.
Verify the result
Search and try to select every redacted value, zoom into every rectangle, inspect page edges, reopen the file outside the browser, confirm annotations are visible at print size, and verify each signature's page and position. Keep the original separately because permanent redaction cannot be undone from the output.
Frequently asked questions
How do rotated pages affect placement?
Redaction maps masks to the displayed crop and orientation, including rotated pages. Annotation and visible-signature tools retain their rotation restrictions: normalize orientation or use the labelled numeric controls when drawing is disabled, then check the download.
Does a black redaction rectangle prove that all copies of a secret are gone?
No. Every page is rasterized and original hidden layers are omitted, but you must still find repeated visible occurrences, sensitive filenames and copies outside the PDF. A mask only covers its selected region.
