How local processing works

After validating segment lengths plus required SOS and EOI markers, the browser removes the chosen whole EXIF APP1, standard or extended XMP APP1, Photoshop APP13, and COM segments. All four groups are selected by default; ICC APP2, JFIF/Adobe color markers, unknown APP segments, and scan bytes are always retained.

Important limitations

The tool removes whole selected segment groups; deleting EXIF APP1 also deletes Orientation, so a JPEG that relied on that tag may appear rotated or flipped after download even though scan pixels were not re-encoded. It does not write EXIF, change author/date/GPS fields individually, remove ICC or unknown APP data, clear every possible metadata trace, or make forensic irrecoverability claims. Non-JPEG input, corrupt segment lengths, or missing SOS/EOI is rejected.
